The Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951).
Although this wasn't the first film to start the sci-fi craze of the 1950s, it was arguably the most important. Director Robert Wise gave the genre some legitimacy when he created the first "serious" science fiction epic that asked pertinent questions about how man would react to learning that we are not alone in our universe. Wise perfectly encapsulated the growing anxiety of American citizens as the world advanced into the Atomic Age. The themes of peace and destruction balance against one another throughout the film as the alien emissary Klaatu and his towering bodyguard Gort, eventually offer the audience the hope of a better, safer world. An icon among sci-fi posters.
Made with museum-grade archival paper with matte finish. Each poster is printed with top-tier pigmented archival inks for a stunning end result.
